The University of Liverpool “Research Partnering Toolkit”.

Delivering a Natural Northern Voiceover for a Corporate Video.

Sometimes, deciding on a voiceover style appropriate for a service, product or brand requires thinking through and that was the case with the “Research Partnering Toolkit” video voiceover for the University of Liverpool. Watch the video by clicking the link here:

The toolkit was developed to support academic students and professional services colleagues at the University, to develop or progress collaborations with external partners including companies, charities and independent organisations.

So, how does a client go about sourcing a voiceover for this type of message?

Well, the brief made it clear that the voiceover should be:

·        Native Liverpool or North West accent

·        Chatty and friendly yet Professional

·        Experienced in providing high quality audio

As my voiceover services met all of the above criteria, I was cast to provide the voiceover which is a great example of my Natural Northern Voiceover for a Corporate Video.

Being from Southport in the North West, my natural voice lands somewhere between Merseyside and Manchester however, I can turn my accent up and down to sound more Mancunian and more Liverpudlian, to suit the regional specifications of a client’s audience.

In this video, there was very little adaptation to my natural voice given that I am native North West. The content also suited my reading style as a significant amount of my voiceover work is for Explainer and Corporate videos, so I’m used to working to timings while keeping the read relaxed and informal.

There are numerous styles of Corporate Video voiceovers however, with many clients now choosing a voice that is friendly and conversational rather than overly formal, this video demonstrates how a more relaxed delivery works to showcase a service in a positive and empowering way.

Natural, Warm, Animated, Friendly, Conversational, Chatty, Excited, Empowering, Appealing… there are endless sounds and styles within the voice artist’s repertoire just waiting to turn ideas into reality!
