Eleanor of Aquitaine
They say you should never meet your Heroes, but what about acting as the voice of your Hero or in this case Heroine?
By sheer chance, I now live in a small hamlet in France, just a few kilometres from the beautiful Château Guillaume where Eleanor of Aquitaine, once Queen of France and later Queen of England is said to have been born.
Noted as one of the most powerful women in history, Eleanor of Aquitaine is someone I’ve enjoyed reading about in various novels; and, a few weeks ago I was invited to play the part of Eleanor in a Real Crusades History video about the heroic Richard The Lionheart, King of England and son of Eleanor of Aquitaine and King Henry II.
It was an honour to play the part of Eleanor in this spectacular historical documentary and it’s always a treat to go and see Château Guillaume where Eleanor once lived in her youth, before her destiny to greatness.
You can hear Eleanor (played by yours truly) at timepoint 38:44 to 39:29 in the video.
I hope you enjoy this little piece of history, that is literally close to home for me.
