Tell it like it is…

Most days I spend my hours standing alone in a voice booth, playing the part of someone else.

I read lines that other people have written, perhaps for a commercial or corporate video, a character/narrator for a training course or educational content.

It’s my job to take someone else’s words from the page and turn them into something that resonates with audiences.

It’s very rare that I stand in the voice booth and actually speak as myself, that is until last week when I was asked to record a set of voiceovers to help students learn the English Language.

There was no need to sell a product, no need to sound alluring or assuring, the objective was simply to speak slowly, clearly and naturally, just as myself about things I like to do and plans I’ve made.

It was a great project to work on as I had time to actually think about things I’m looking forward to doing this year, like going travelling, taking holidays, spending time with family and trying new foods!

The project finished successfully (with the ultimate goal of five-star feedback) and my voiceovers will be featured within learning resources for English Language students.

As I’ve been learning French for a few years, it’s nice to be able to help other students learn their chosen second language!

I’ve always loved the English Language, the words and the way they flow, that’s why voicing Educational and E-Learning content remains one of my favourite genres of voiceover.

I've absolutely no idea what the next voiceover will be, Commercial, Corporate, Educational? But whether I’m voicing as myself or someone else I’ll be delighted to “Tell it like it is!”

What are you learning and how is it improving your physical or cognitive capability? For me learning French is something that I love and it will undoubtedly be a life long journey, but as they say "c'est la vie!"

Pondering which voiceover to cast on your next production? Send me a message, I’ll be happy to send you a quote.
